Waypoint

Personal Project

“You’re never too old to have a bit of fun”

Name and brand a hotel in a 70’s theme for the elderly using the features and nautical history of the Great Ocean Road as influence.

Solution:
Name: Waypoint - a stopping place on a journey, at which the course may be changed.

  • Waypoint symbolises a turning point, fitting for the elderly who may be feeling detached from their life and looking for a way to reset.

Arches are a key graphic element and reflect those found in the landscape.

Initial logos for the hotel included an arch window with the guest’s view of The Great Ocean Road.

Playing around with the skeleton of this idea, formed a new idea - the mast of a sail. This tied into the shipwrecks that The Great Ocean Road was known for and was the start of the final draft.
