Ask:
Design a set of covers and a magazine spread for Timeout’s latest editorial “Raw Africa.” Capture the audience’s imagination and inspire them to visit West Africa. Be sure to convey the vibrancy and wildness of Africa through the imagery.

Solution:
1. Covers concept- “journey into the unknown”

A juxtaposition of reality and the impossible were used in the form of a collage to create feelings of freedom and adventure.

2. Article concept - “a burst of the senses”

The shapes and colours found within African clothing inspired the collages - one aspect of each image bursts out of the seams of the shape, bringing the concept to life. Impact was created through the use of negative space.
